I started on my teaching education journey back in 2008, when I took my first class in order to obtain a California state teaching credential. Unfortunately, this was around the time the job market for teachers became extremely desolate and I was disheartened that my chosen field had become affected so drastically by the economic downturn that was taking place. So, I focused on maintaining my then current job as a retail manager before taking up the mantle again in January of 2012 and renewed my pursuit of obtaining my teaching credential. I was very proud when my credential was awarded this past June, and the near completion of my Master’s degree. I also was lucky to find a teaching position at a local charter school, teaching 6th and 8th grade science.
I am very fortunate that I have recently received a lot of structured feedback, specifically pertaining to the TPE’s in my student teaching evaluations. This initial creation of the PDQP has allowed me to review my student teaching evaluations with a far more critical eye and begin to reflect and apply my critical learning’s as I enter my first year teaching in a self-contained classroom.
